The Honor of Kings beats PUBG Mobile: Stats
As per data analyst firm Sensor Tower, the popular battle royale game PUBG Mobile has slipped to second place in the month of March 2021 in terms of the highest-grossing mobile game.
The number of downloads via the Google Play Store is much higher compared to Apple’s App Store. However, the revenues generated are much higher from the App Store. Revenue estimates include both the App Store and Play Store revenues, these rankings, do not include app revenue from third-party Android stores.
Apart from all of this, Honor of Kings also became the highest revenue-generating game for Q2 2020 according to another Sensor Tower report. During this time, the game managed to accumulate $621 million worth of revenue with over 2.7 billion downloads. During this time, India became the leading region in terms of the number of game downloads, followed by the US and Brazil.
The other three games in the top five for mobile games revenue are Moon Active’s Coin Master, Mixi’s Monster Strike, and Niantic’s Pokemon GO.
PUBG Mobile was extremely popular in India but the Indian government later banned the battle royale game in the country under Section 69A of the IT Act, 2000. The ban could be the reason behind PUBG Mobile’s slip in position to the second-highest-grossing mobile game in March 2021. In China, both Honor of Kings and Peacekeeper Elite achieved remarkable esports plans.
